In light of everything that's happening with the coronavirus, the media frenzy and what's happening all around the world, I wanted to give you some encouragement.
Everybody is dealing with this media news and this epidemic called the coronavirus, also known as covid-19.
Listen my friends, I just keep hearing the Lord say Psalms 91, "Let that be your shield."
I've been declaring that Psalms 91 is my shield. So, I got in the word this week and decided to read it again.
Of course I know parts that I love to quote, “He that dwells in The Secret place of the Most High God, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” But, I wanted to study it in a different translation and just look at it again. I read it in the Complete Jewish Bible and pulled it up online. The CJB version is what it's called.
This is an opportunity for those of us who are believers, to stand in faith. We are an example of the favor of God that is upon his children and an example of how he protects his children and how he is a shield. "God is a shield for me, the glory, the lifter up of my head."
I think about the children of Israel when all the plagues were going on with Moses at the helm and he tells Pharoah, "Let my people go! Let my people go!" Pharoah's heart was hardened and yet God protected his people. The plagues affected everybody else. When they put the blood on the doorposts of their homes, just like they were commanded to do, when the death angel came, it had to pass over. The Lord warned them to take the blood of a sacrificial lamb and smear it over the doorposts of their homes and those homes would be passed over.
Of course that sacrificial lamb is Jesus as we know here in 2020. The same thing applies for us today. We take that shield of El Elyon, Adonai, El Shaddai; you know those many Hebraic names that God is known by, and we put that blood over the doorposts of our homes, our hearts, our minds and we are protected.
Everybody else was affected by the plagues in Moses' day, but the chosen people, the children of Israel, were covered in the land of Goshen. They had plenty. The death angel had to pass over. So they didn’t have to deal with the fall out of the plague and epidemic that was happening in the country at the time.
I just speak that over us.
We say that we trust the Lord and that he is our refuge and our strength. He’s our hiding place. He is our shelter. We abide under His shadow. A shadow is not cast very far off, so we have to be close to the Lord. We walk with Him and we talk with Him. He calls us his own, and we call Him our own. He is ours and we are His.
So if we say that we trust him and He is our refuge and our strength, then don't let the frenzy that you hear in the media and all the stuff that's going on around you, don't let it shake you. Don't let it shake your faith and shake your confidence because the Lord is going to protect you. The Lord is a shield and you are abiding under His shadow. You’re abiding under His shelter. He’s protecting you and He’s protecting me.
Of course we take our precautions. I spray my Lysol if I need to. My daughter was sick at our home, so I sprayed her and put a bag over her head. We were joking around and laughing. But, we know in whom our help lies.
Read these scriptures in the Complete Jewish Bible, Psalm 91 (see below). In verse 3, He says that he will rescue you from the trap of the hunter and from the plague of calamities he will cover you with his pinions and under his wings you will find refuge.
God is covering us with His truth as our shield and protection. We have the word of God, Psalms 91, to stand on as our truth, as our shield and our protection.
Verse 5, you will not fear the terror of night nor the arrow that flies by day. You will not fear! So when fear tries to come in, you just begin to declare the word of the Lord against that fear. Perfect love casts out fear. God loves you perfectly and He doesn't wish you any harm. His thoughts towards you are good and not evil. They are thoughts of peace, of a future, and of a hope. Don't let other people's fear shake you.
This is a modern day plague in 2020, but you don’t have to fear. There are many things that happen outside of our homes, in our communities, and God protects us. Things happen right around our door steps and God protects us from accidents seen and unseen. His hand is upon us. We even have angels that have charge over us and that are assigned to protect and watch over us.
You will NOT fear!
You will not fear so you have to speak that word over yourself. "I will not fear" the terror of night nor the arrow that flies by day or the plague that roams in the dark, or the scourge that wreaks havoc at noon.
Verse 7 states that a thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand; but it won’t come near you. You hear that?!?! It won't come near you. Declare that over yourself. This plague, this coronavirus will not come near me and my family and my household. You can even begin to pray for your enemies.
We don't want the coronavirus to come near our cities, our states, nor near our nation. We can declare this because we have a promise. We have the truth of the word. We've got to rest in Him. We've got to trust Him and know that He is protecting us. He's watching over us.
He's keeping us safe from all harm and danger, the seen and the unseen dangers. Things that we know about, things that we haven't even thought about, things that are of no concern to us, God is protecting us from those things. He has always been doing that. So why would he do anything different?
We say that God is a good good father. Like any good father, He wants to protect his children. No disaster will happen to you. Declare verse 10 today. "No disaster will happen to you, no calamity will come near your tent."
We live in these modern day tents and different dwelling places but God promises that no calamity will come near your house for he will order his angels to care for you and guard you wherever you go.
Angels have been assigned to guard you and take care of you wherever you go. So when you're out and about doing the work you have to do or if you have to be out in the community, God has placed angels around you. I believe that the Lord is protecting each and every one of us in our respective places.
The Lord is talking to us through these verses. These are promises that he is speaking over us. Because we love him so much He's going to rescue us because we know His name. God won't forsake us. When we call on him, he said he will answer. So call on him today if you are having fear or any doubt. If you are stressed out about this whole coronavirus situation begin to call on the Lord. Call on Jesus! Jesus! Jesus is the solution for every problem!
When Jesus died on the cross, so we could have health, healing and wholeness, coronavirus was included. Jesus already paid the price for this virus. Verse 15 starts, "he will call on me and I'll answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble. I will extricate him and bring him honor." Extricate! That's the word the firefighters use when somebody's in a bed car accident and they have to get the jaws of life. They come and extricate them out of that car.
This situation for our nation and for the world is a sticky situation. There are no immediate answers in the natural, but we know the answer is Jesus. We need the Lord to extricate us out of this situation. Begin to plead the blood of Jesus over your family, over your business, communities, and over your schools. Everything you can think of to apply the blood of Jesus to, do it!
When we were praying at the beginning of this year, one of the things the Lord spoke to us is that we were going to have passover blessings. God will cover us and keep us covered and bless us even in the midst of calamity and even in the midst of plagues. We're walking in health and wholeness.
For me personally, this is the best I've felt in a while. I was dealing with sinus issues off and on and trying to figure out what was going on with my body. I've been feeling excellent these past 30-60 days. I'm not going back! That's my declaration. The Lord has extricated me and brought me honor.
Verse 16 says "I will satisfy him with long life and show him my salvation." God wants to satisfy us with long life. So get in agreement with this word. Let this word be your shield.
Let Psalm 91 be your covering. Don't you get frantic! Don't you get in a frenzy! Do your part and watch God do His part. His part is to protect us. He's already made provision for our healing, for our health, and for our security. Trust Him!
Psalm 91 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
1 You who live in the shelter of ‘Elyon,
who spend your nights in the shadow of Shaddai,
2 who say to Adonai, “My refuge! My fortress!
My God, in whom I trust!” —
3 he will rescue you from the trap of the hunter
and from the plague of calamities;
4 he will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his truth is a shield and protection.
5 You will not fear the terrors of night
or the arrow that flies by day,
6 or the plague that roams in the dark,
or the scourge that wreaks havoc at noon.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand;
but it won’t come near you.
8 Only keep your eyes open,
and you will see how the wicked are punished.
9 For you have made Adonai, the Most High,
who is my refuge, your dwelling-place.
10 No disaster will happen to you,
no calamity will come near your tent;
11 for he will order his angels to care for you
and guard you wherever you go.
12 They will carry you in their hands,
so that you won’t trip on a stone.
13 You will tread down lions and snakes,
young lions and serpents you will trample underfoot.
14 “Because he loves me, I will rescue him;
because he knows my name, I will protect him.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him.
I will be with him when he is in trouble.
I will extricate him and bring him honor.
16 I will satisfy him with long life
and show him my salvation.”
